Today news comes from a company called Logos Components regarding new wheels in carbon fiber featuring a recent open standard technology many of you might be familiar with. the company released news on three wheel sets- A ‘gravel’ set, a 650B sized ‘adventure’ set, and a trail bike wheel set for 29″ wheels. we will keep our focus here on the gravel and adventure wheel sets, but many of the same features do apply to the trail wheels as does the introductory price of $999.00 USD.

Logos runs by the philosophy that components should be based on designs that are proven, components that require low maintenance, and when they do require a little looking after, that the parts be readily available, non-proprietary bits. To that end the heart, if you will, of Logos wheel sets is the now open standard, dual sprung, star ratchet freehub technology first used by Hugi and then most famously by DT Swiss. These hubs, dubbed “arché | os”, are Center Lock brake rotor mount standard and are available separately. The wheels also feature no-frills, smartly designed carbon fiber rims and standard spokes from Pillar with brass nipples. These rims are also available separately.

epoché 700: This is Logos 700c wheel set meant for the gravel scene, but are said to be equally at home doing road work or in a cyclo-cross setting. Featuring angled spoke holes in the 24mm inside diameter. offset spoke bed rims, Claimed weight for the rims is 390 grams. The epoché 700 has 24 spokes in each wheel laced to Logos’ “arché | os” hubs which feature the aforementioned dual ratchet system. The wheels have 12mm through axle attachment standard axles and are 100mm frt/142mm rear. Claimed weight without tape and valve stems, (included with the wheels) is 1365 grams. Again the price is $999.00 USD.

atara 650: These 650B hooped wheels have rims similar to the above model in the smaller diameter. The differences beyond the diameter are in rim inner width which is 28mm, and these are drilled for 24 Pillar spokes with brass nipples. The hubs are the same as above. The claimed rim weight is 365 grams. Total wheel weight is 1325 grams Priced he same as the epoche’ 700.

The rims are made of a combination of Toray T700 and T800 carbon. The finish is raw matte carbon. Any of the three rim models are available for $399.00 each. As mentioned above, the hubs are also available separately. Hub pricing appeared to be incorrect on the Logos website so we do not have a correct price on those components as yet, but the rear hub is available in SRAM XD driver type or Shimano HG 11/12 speed compatible versions. You can also buy these hubs in sets and in a Boost version.
