Beaver Dam 49er Gravel Grinder
June 20 @ 7:30 am - 3:00 pm
Catch the Fever! Ride at Beaver!
Gold fever brought the 49ers through Beaver Dam Wash in 1849. Relive the fever by experiencing part of their overland journey through the maze of mountains and rocky canyons that only the determined made it through.
A day’s trek over miles of gravel and dirt takes you across cattle ranges, through settler homesteads, around isolated ranches, by an old log milling community and past the historic one-room Barclay Schoolhouse.
The ride is just an hour and half from either St. George or Cedar City, Utah and short three hour drive from Las Vegas, Nevada.
the Technical Aspects
This ride is not skinny-tire road bike friendly. If you have a fat-tire bike, mountain bike, cyclocross bike, or adventure/all purpose bike you will be able to do this ride.
Though we do offer some support, this is a gravel grinder and not a gran fondo, it emphasizes radical self reliance and features few amenities. You need to be technically savvy and bring any gear you might need to replace or fix tires, chains, or any other possible pitfalls. We will have stops along the way with water and snacks; make sure to bring any special food or drink you like to have while riding. The course will be marked and Rangers will be driving the route.
