Salt Creek Ramble
Midwest Devo and Bicycle Garage Indy are excited to welcome you to the first Salt Creek Ramble, a race on our favorite roads in the stunning Hoosier National Forest. Over a choice of three distances you’ll be taken on a tour of the area’s back-road highlights with trips up and over firm favorites including Mt Baldy and Combs Road, and ride through some of the finest gravel in the region.
Is it a race at the front? Of course it is. But really it’s a ride in the woods for everyone, a challenge, and an opportunity to get together with our community. We have three race lengths, tailored to meet every kind of rider: 75, 43 and 26 miles. All three courses start out on the same route and finish with the grand finale over Combs Road, up to Elkinsville, and a triumphant return into Story.
We want to look after you and we want to make sure you enjoy yourself so you’ll find three well-stocked and well-staffed checkpoints on the course where BGI staff will ensure you and your equipment are working well. Midwest Devo volunteers will welcome you at the checkpoints and at the finish – if you need anything at all, please ask.
We start and finish at the Story Inn, ‘one inconvenient location since 1851’. There you’ll find ample parking, food, race control, a bar, all your friends…and once you’re done a grill where you can refuel.
This event is a fundraiser for Midwest Devo, Indiana’s biggest junior development cycling team. Our riders are aged 8-18 and from the very beginning of their riding careers to racing internationally. Cyclocross is the heartbeart of the team and money raised at the Salt Creek Ramble will go to supporting juniors as they travel to Europe to compete in the 2020/21 season. Thank you for coming and for giving generously!
