Gravel Grinder News: Roval Terra Carbon Post – by Guitar Ted
In an effort to reduce harmful vibrations from reaching riders who choose to ride rough, uneven pavement or on gravel, several companies have been introducing new components made to absorb or mitigate these vibrations from reaching the rider. We’ve covered components like this here on Riding Gravel before. Today, Roval Components introduced a new Terra Carbon Seat Post to their range of gravel wheels, also aimed at gravel/back road cyclist.
The Terra Carbon post looks like a standard carbon seat post, but this post has been designed with a special lay-up of carbon. This has allowed up to 18mm of vertical compliance, with the 20mm offset version, and is dependent upon the amount of seat post extension in a particular set up. Roval Components claims that they chose carbon layups featuring varying elongation characteristics which have allowed for this smoothing effect.
The Terra Carbon Post will be offered in 20mm offset and 0 mm offset versions at 330mm and 380mm lengths. The only diameter available now is the ubiquitous 27.2mm size, which should cover most gravel/back road bicycles.
Weights vary from a claimed 194 grams for the 330mm x 0 mm offset version to 213 grams for the 380mm x 20mm offset version. Price for the Roval Components seat post has been set at $250.00 USD.
Roval Components also offers Terra CLX and Terra CLX Evo wheel sets for gravel/back road riding as well. Roval Components also introduced a carbon component line dubbed “Alpinist” on the road side consisting of an integrated stem-handle bar system and seat post. You can see all these and details on them at the Roval Components website here; https://rovalcomponents.com/

I wonder if this is just a re-branded S-Works seat post that comes on the Diverge that costs $180.
