Trek Gives a Nod to the Touring Crowd
If you’ve been following the cycling news lately, there is no doubt that you’ve seen the trend towards gravel-specific bikes. The recent photos from NAHBS has made it clear that the spotlight is turning towards the “niche” that’s always been there. In many of these new designs and models, the focus has been on events and the best ride for your next 50 mile or 100 mile gravel grinder race. Therefore, it’s interesting to see one of the big companies start to go a different route. There is a large number of riders out there, like many of you, who don’t race and want something not produced and marketed to just racers, while keeping the prices reasonable. Trek is targeting the touring and adventure crowd with their lineup of two new bikes that join the old standby, the 520, and they are promoting the bikes with a big contest. Read on to find out more information.
The Contest
Trek has kicked up a new campaign for their Touring & Adventure segment and has their touring bike line available in four models.
Trek’s slogan for their line tells their movitation:
“There’s no better way to see the world than from the saddle of a bike. A dedicated adventure touring bike is comfortable, reliable, capable, and always ready for the next adventure. In other words, the perfect traveling companion, whatever your route or destination.”
Trek is giving lucky winners and their cycling partners an all-expenses-paid trip (including airfare and amenities) on one of the following adventures:
520: The classic touring experience begins in Portland, Oregon, and traces a scenic route to the coast.
720: A credit card-style tour on the legendary roads of northern California.
920: An all-road adventure over the rolling hills of the Virginia Reel.
