Old Man Mountain (OMM) racks have a stellar reputation as being very tough, durable, and very versatile. However; many of us are maybe not quite in to hauling around huge panniers full of gear. Not that there is anything wrong with that. But- you know – sometimes you just want to carry a little something extra, not everything and the kitchen sink. That’s where the new Elkhorn Rack comes in.

The Elkhorn is that rack you use when you want extra gear that won’t go into your half-frame bag, or in a handle bar bag. Maybe you don’t want a big seat-pack swinging around out back and the thought of a secure load makes sense to you. Well, here you go- The Elkhorn was made for just such exploits.

Don’t have rack mounts? No worries! The Elkhorn has you covered. It can mount to your through axles, and with the accessory mount kits, you can fix the Elkhorn to just about any gravel or mountain bike, even front and rear suspension bikes. Yes, that’s right, the Elkhorn is a front or rear rack.

The stays of the Elkhorn have triple bosses for cargo cages or extra water bottles. The deck of the Elkhorn is slotted so you can lash all manner of bags, baskets, or gear to it. The Elkhorn is rated to 25lbs. Following is the the bullet-point feature list as provided to us by Old Man Mountain:

The Elkhorn comes in two sizes; Short and Tall.

  • The Short is designed for 27.5 and 700c wheels. Fits tires up to 27.5 x 2.8″ or 700c x 50mm.
  • The Tall is designed for maximum mud clearance and bikes with 29″ tires. Fits tires up to 29 x 3.25″.
