Fresh Gravel: WTB, Redshift Sports, Finish Line

Fresh Gravel: WTB, Redshift Sports, Finish Line – by Guitar Ted

Winter is hitting the Riding Gravel headquarters hard, but that doesn’t mean that things are not happening. Today we have news on some upcoming products from WTB, Redshift Sports, and Finish Line which are due to arrive soon, or already have, which we will be reviewing. Here’s what we have coming up so far……

WTB Proterra Wheels:

Recently we ran an article introducing the new WTB Proterra wheels which are WTB’s pre-built wheel line with an eye towards value for the rider. We are due to see a set arrive here at Riding Gravel which we will be doing a long term review on.

The set we are to receive are the i23 Proterra wheels which will feature a 23mm inner rim dimension. Not the widest out there aimed at the gravel rider, but right in the pocket for inner rim widths and a dimension which should work across a wide range of gravel tire sizes. These Proterra wheels will be 700c diameter as well.

The Proterra wheels also come in 650B and in other internal widths. See our Gravel Grinder News post on these new offerings here. Then look forward to the review which should be getting kicked off here in a couple weeks.

Redshift Sports Kitchen Sink Bar – New Lighter Weight Stem:

The Redshift Sports Kitchen Sink Bar as it appeared at Sea Otter 2019
Back when things were different: The Redshift Sports Kitchen Sink proto as shown at Sea Otter 2019.

Our own Grannygear attended Sea Otter back when it last happened in 2019. While visiting Redshift Sports’ booth he came across the prototype for the Kitchen Sink Bar, a rather unusual take on a flared drop bar. Well, now the bar is a reality and a Kitchen Sink Bar should be in our paws any day here at Riding Gravel.

Things have changed a bit since that prototype was shown- both socially and in terms of this design- and we will detail all of that when we get the bar in and post our introduction. We also will be getting the “Cruise Control” grip additions along with the extra long bar tape to accommodate the wider bar. Not only that, but Redshift Sports now has a lightened version of their wildly popular ShockStop Stem which we wuill also be trying out.

Look for all of that to hit the site soon. In the meantime, check out the Kitchen Sink Bar on Redshift Sports’ site here: https://redshiftsports.com/products/kitchen-sink-handlebar

Finish Line Products:

Various Finish Line products
Finish Line sent over several maintenance products for us to test out.

Maintenance in preparation for the upcoming riding season is in full swing now. A timely package arrived at Riding Gravel recently which held a suite of products from Finish Line to aid in doing this important maintenance and preparation.

I have had some experience with various Finish Line products since the 1990’s and have been duly impressed with their offerings. In this upcoming Quick Review, I will put these various products to the test to see if their previous reputation with me is being upheld. Stay tuned for that coming in a few weeks to a month. In the meantime check out all of the Finish Line offerings at their site here: http://www.finishlineusa.com/

NOTE Products sent to Riding Gravel are not paid for by Riding Gravel and are sent by the various companies mentioned for test and review only. We are not being paid, nor bribed, for this post and we always strive to give our honest thoughts and views throughout.
