Lezyne Super GPS: Fresh Gravel- by Guitar Ted

Keeping track of things has become an obsession with many of us. Navigation aids have also become almost ubiquitous within the field of gravel events. Together, the devices we utilize to manage these tasks have become almost more important than the riding of the bicycle in the first place. However that plays out for you, there is no denying that the world of gadgets designed to track your ride and performance metrics has become more sophisticated and that there are more choices now than ever to manage this with. One of the latest companies to enter the fray of gadgetry for your bicycle is Lezyne. (Rhymes with “design”)

Lezyne Super GPS with all the fixins.

Lezyne recently released news of a new GPS/computer line up for 2017 and the top of the line unit is the Super GPS. The Super GPS is a navigation device, a computer which can track several cycling specific metrics, and a training device which can be paired via Bluetooth and ANT+ to a power meter. There are also push notifications available from your phone which allows you to identify who is sending you, and when texts, e-mails, and phone calls come in. There are a few items which can be bundled with the Super GPS at the time of purchase and are listed as “Loaded Options” with two choices there. This review will focus on the Super GPS with Loaded Option 1. That option bundles the following items with the Super GPS:

The MSRP on this option is $229.99USD and it is available now.

The Loaded Option 1 comes with a heart rate monitor and strap and a cadence/speed sensor. It also features an extra mount for the head.

Some of the features of this unit are as follows:

There is quite a lot to talk about here, so we will save some of the more in depth stuff for upcoming posts. This will be not only a review of this Super GPS unit, but also a bit of a “GPS 101” as I will be doing the review from the vantage point of a “newbie” to GPS and “super-connected” type devices, which the Super GPS is a great example of. Stay tuned for the “Getting Rolling” post coming up very soon.

NOTE: The Lezyne Super GPS was purchased by Guitar Ted and is being reviewed/tested by RidingGravel.com. RidingGravel.com is not being paid nor bribed for this review and we will strive to give our honest thoughts and opinions throughout.
