Gravel Grinder News: Wilde Fork, Showers Pass, Reynolds & More News – by Guitar Ted
This week, Eurobike is happening after being muted or cancelled due to the pandemic the last two years. That means a lot of news is coming out this week. We have some of it here with Wilde announcing a new fork, a Showers Pass Eco-friendly rain jacket, and more. First, the Wilde fork news…
Wilde Bikes Wayfinder Fork: Problem: You’ve got an 1 1/8th inch straight steer tube fork on your Surly Straggler, (as an example), and you want a full-featured, carbon fiber fork to lighten up your rig but retain all that versatility the steel fork has. Solution: Wilde Bikes’ new Wayfinder fork. It has “Three-Pack Mounts”, it is set up for flat mount brakes, it has internal dynamo routing, internal brake line routing, a threaded mount at the fork crown, and a 100 X 12mm through axle, of course.
Wilde Bikes’ Jeffrey Frane says, “The Wayfinder marks our first attempt at creating something that we felt was sorely lacking in the market, namely a carbon fork with all the features that will retro-fit to existing bikes, give another choice for frame builders to expand traditional techniques, and still work well with 44mm and tapered head tubes. Essentially, do-it-all and fit just about anything.“
The specs on the Wayfinder fork read as follows:
Specs
Fork Weight: 470g with uncut steerer
Tire Clearance: 700c X 2.1″ or 27.5″ X 2.3″
Axle to Crown – 398mm
Rake – 49mm
Steerer Length – 350mm
Axle – 130mm length 12 x 1.5
You can pick up a Wayfinder fork now from Wilde Bikes and it will run you $499.00 here.

Reynolds Wheels Adds To Gravel Wheel Range: Reynolds Wheels announces a complex range of wheels aimed at what they feel are the two different, but overlapping worlds of “Gravel” cycling. One being a bit more from the MTB side, the other being more from a “Road” side. Reynolds differentiates the range in this way by calling its more aero, slightly narrower inner rim profile wheels the “ATR” series. (All Terrain Road”) The other, less aero, slightly wider inner rim width range are called the “G Series” wheels.
Moving on from the two main distinctions, the G Series and the ATR series are further broken down into the Black Label/ Black Label Pro (G Series) range which is top of the line and uses Industry Nine Torch hub internals in a Reynolds designed hub shell. Then things splinter off further. In the ATR range you move down-line to the ATRx and ATR entry level wheel set. In the G Series this is reflected as the Black Label EXP and EXP entry level wheels.
Whew!
